WOYM was conceived in the mobile Facebook environment as an ongoing series of status updates, offering visual responses to the daily question that welcomes the user into the domain. In spatial terms, “What’s on your mind?” is a permanent type of vitrine, an empty show case, even so strategically located at the entrance, exhibiting not so much the digital object but the impermanence such objects yield and necessitate, so that the timeline can continue to appear vacant and unexhausted of vital content. It is an electrically powered disposal unit shredding interiority into large bulks of content-without-context. While exploring the changing landscape of writing customs affected by technology, WOYM attempts to weave storytelling back into visual language taking cues from erroneous aesthetics that alter meaning in new and interesting ways.
